06:35 am.
I keep waking up disturbingly early. As much as I would like to disassociate such things, I am blaming the moon. I think there must be a werewolf somewhere in the family. It’s a stunningly beautiful morning though. One of the joys of getting up before is theoretically healthy is that you get to see all the little wild things start their day. An abundance of finches and a miniature red squirrel have been entertaining me from the balcony. Plenty of egg yolk Easter sun and hard frost with steaming condensation for garnish. Forgetting the fact I will probably fall asleep at 3pm, it’s a rather nice way to start the day!
This week has been a succession of meetings, organsings, schools and shoppings. I am looking forwards to a blank day tomorrow!
Monday was capoeira möte, hos Martha med en mycket trevligt middag. Spicy grilled chicken with couscous salad, avocado and feta ost, followed by a quick round of electrocution. It was actually a highly productive dinner. Consequently got our booze ordered and the beginnings of our final shopping list. We’ve decided to supply a selection of salads and a grattis samba workshop seeing as we no longer have to pay for a location.
Tuesday was International Presence Exhibition, lunch and three hours of ideas flying around at university.

Some thoughtful poses from the meeting.
My notebooks seem to fill up ever so much faster than they used to! It seems that we have found some direction though. Several prospective subject students, locations and a budget ready to use. I have taken it upon myself to research and draw up some simple copyright contracts. There’s more to this malarkey than meets the eye! It’s good to involve myself in this group though. I’m looking at doing a short course on Multicultural Improvisation next term as well as continuing my Swedish. I’ve just been meandering through the prospectus for the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering. Think it might be a good place to park myself for the next couple of years.
Tuesday late afternoon was filled with secondhand store searching for burlesque 1940’s items. We found a 4pc hand made tails coat suit which fitted TG rather well. It was only 150kr but he still refused, said it just felt ridiculous. Thing is, at that price, even if you only wore it to your won funeral it’s a bargain! Hugely unfair seeing as I have coveted such an outfit for at least a decade. I will find one in tidge size eventually!
This was promptly followed by capoeira (the toilet on our floor was blocked, I hadn’t eaten and Martha kindly threw me into the wall so I now have a smashing elbow bruise, but it was still a lot of fun.) I think I talk too much sometimes!

Middag, vin och konversation hos Linda med TG och hennes vanner Tomas, Olga och deras little dude Ivar. A pleasant mix of vegetarian tacos and Swedish conversation.
Wednesday = School, sewing curtains and a scarily large and overly extravagant food shop… but it’s not every day you’re planning a 1940’s burlesque themed joint birthday party with costumes, vodka martinis and a verly large bottle of Latvian champagne!

The artistic output hasn't been huge this week, but I like this sketch.
Thursday was yesterday! Golly, it’s only Friday, it feels like this week has been at least 8 days long already. Yesterday started far to early (though admittedly not as early as today) I had done my laundry, emptied the bins, dyed a set of icky brown silk pyjamas black, and baked a coffee, cardamom and pistachio cake by around 11am. Then it was off to town in the sunshine to pick up the last few bits and pieces… sugared almonds, check, feather boa, check, over the top pearl jewelery, check, cut glass decanter, check, double tiered cake stand, check! What would be do without second hand stores? We have decided to start renting out props… or just pretending to live in the past all the time! Hopefully there’s going to be a mound of goodies left over so me and TG are going to dress in drag, listen to swing and drink cocktails regularly for the next 6 months.
Home again. TG got busy in the kitchen. Kladdakaka och sockerkaka anyone? We’re just going to add it to the ccp confection I made earlier (I think we need the Blue Peter voices) and the obligatory sugary pink Princess Torta. Meanwhile I set about transforming my balcony into an extravagant arabesque smoking room, complete with floor cushions, water pipes, candles, incense, Brazilian cigars and that decanter of Rigan brandy. The living room is now a cosy jazz lounge with some (almost) luscious vegetation, glass bowls of sugar coated luxuries and hopefully Linda’s mahjong set. The bedroom/studio has been transformed into a bar and poker den, with a selection of comfortable armchairs and a fine zebra skin rug on the floor. I think I want to keep my place like this forever!

Sadly the hive of activity meant I missed training yesterday. I’m always sad when I don’t get my capoeira hit (I swear it’s addictive) but time is running away with us! I did manage to get my International Presence meeting notes and photographs edited and passed along though. Veggi Thai curry at one am… why I can’t sleep is beyond me. I am physically and mentally whacked… I’m sure there must be werewolf in me somewhere!
